For UK residents, the voyage begins with a helicopter transport from your home to a London airport (in transit, enjoy caviar worth 4,000 pounds per kilogram and sip on 1,000-year-old tea leaves) before you board a private charter to Los Angeles. The kids-only Barbie rooms at Hotel Plaza Athénée are back, and this year the Paris hotel adds something for boys, too, with a Hot Wheels room. In partnership with Mattel, Plaza Athénée will transform three rooms this August: “Modern Princess” and “Fashion Icon” Barbie chambers feature doll-themed furniture and linens, while the new Hot Wheels room boasts a racecar bed, posters, and a Hot Wheels race track. While kids aged 3-16 stay in the themed rooms, parents book a connected room or suite. Rooms start at $2,467/night; continental breakfast for parents and kids is included.
