Just two hours from New York City, Bermuda is the perfect weekend getaway. Leave the city chaos behind and escape to the soft pink sands and crystal clear waters of the British territory. Located on Bermuda’s stunning South Shore, the Fairmont Southampton offers luxury accommodations in paradise. This property, voted one of the top resorts in the Atlantic by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, offers guests 30 percent savings off bookings of three nights or more.  Rooms start at $193 per night through the end of the year.

Your guestroom will feature one king or two queen beds, a spacious bathroom with a his-and-hers granite vanity, and a private balcony. The property contains eight onsite dining options including fresh local seafood at the beachfront Ocean Club and The Cellar, a local favorite cocktail and entertainment lounge.  Relax on the serene private beach, where the Cabana Bar & Grill will bring you island-inspired cocktails and snacks. The resort’s full-service spa features a state-of-the-art ocean view fitness center as well as treatments including aromatherapy and reflexology, cleansing facials, and custom massages.  From tennis courts to an eighteen-hole golf course, the Fairmont Southampton really has it all.

This special is available for 3-night stays booked through December 31. To book, visit the Fairmont Southampton website. For more information, call 800-257-7544.

Beach in Southampton Parish BermudaI really get around (travel-wise, that is) and when I talk to other well-traveled writers and friends I am always amazed how many of them have overlooked one of the world’s prettiest places: delightful, 21-square-mile Bermuda. Not only is it among the easiest-access islands for Americans (it’s in the Atlantic, 650 miles off Cape Hatteras and under two hours by air from the East Coast), but its teal blue water, botanical bounty, and pastel-hued charm make you feel as if you’ve been transported to an entirely different continent. I place it in the realm of Capri, Madeira, or Mallorca – sunny, manicured islands rich in natural beauty and full of surprises around every corner.

I didn’t discover Bermuda myself until four years ago, and a recent visit reaffirmed that the world’s oldest British colony, where the U.S. dollar is readily accepted, is a terrific destination for couples looking for a subtropical getaway involving golf, tennis, biking, spas, fine dining, or even historic touring. Here are my picks for 10 ways to enjoy Bermuda, plus three top resort options (if you can swing a last-minute getaway, hotel rates throughout March are a great value).
