The Luxury The majestic Mohonk Mountain House overlooks sparkling Lake Mohonk in New Paltz, just 90 minutes north of New York City. Spend the day exploring the property’s 85 miles of foliage-speckled nature trails or partaking in tennis, golfing, boating, horseback riding, or rock climbing. Then bed down in one of the Victorian castle’s 265 rooms. The rates include three meals daily, afternoon tea, and most activities.
The Value To celebrate the resort’s 140th anniversary (1869-2009), guests pay $186.90/night per person (double occupancy), saving $136/night off standard rates. ShermansTravel readers will also receive complimentary access (usually $20 a day) to the 30,000-square-foot spa’s steam and sauna rooms, heated mineral pool, and solarium.
The Catch The special rates are available only Sunday through Thursday until December 17, 2009.
