Thanks to the recent media frenzy surrounding the latest ABC drama, Cougar Town, cougars are officially making a comeback.  (If you’re still pondering what a Cougar is despite all the buzz, I suggest you head over to Urban Dictionary for an unofficial interpretation of the term).  As the nation gears up for tonight’s series premier starring Courtney Cox, another group of middle-age women – and the young men that lust after them – are preparing to heat things up in the travel industry. That’s right – Carnival Cruise Line is hosting the very first International Cougar Cruise.

The 3-night voyage filled with dancing, dining, socializing, and more kicks off this December from San Diego and heads to Ensenada, Mexico. Interior cabins start at $125 per person, based on double occupancy – meaning solo travelers will have to shell out $230. Or, they can reduce costs by opting to allow the Singles Travel Company – which is co-sponsoring the cruise – to match them up with a roommate. Cougars and their young male “cubs” can enjoy unlimited meals and entertainment, cocktails parties, Vegas-style shows, fitness classes, and access to the jogging track, sauna, steam room, and hot tub. (Oh God, not the hot tub.)

To top it off – the reigning queen of the cougar craze, Gloria Navarro, will be presiding over the event. She’s been riding high after being crowned the first ever Miss Cougar America at the Cougar Convention this past August, but Courtney Cox may steal her thunder once the show is aired. It’s too bad they can’t get a camera crew on this cruise, because it might make for some quality entertainment.
