With more than 1,500 hotels in Paris, it's a tedious task to find the right fit. For those looking to steer clear of tourist traps and cookie-cutter chains, Grand Pigalle is a warm welcome to the City of Light's hotel landscape. We recently checked into this boutique Parisian property to find out what makes it so unique.

What’s Hot

The ambiance: Opened in early 2015 by three childhood friends with a background in the food and beverage industry, the hotel is home to a vibrant cocktail-centric scene that draws locals and tourists alike to revel in the sleek, vintage-inspired restaurant and bar.

Best Feature

What we really love here is the round-the-clock appeal. The hotel's bustling bar carries patrons late into the night with finely crafted drinks and small plates; as the new South Pigalle hotspot, you’ll find this place abuzz most weeknights. Grand Pigalle aces its morning game with an impressive spread of fresh pastries from the bakery next door, cold cuts, yogurt, and freshly squeezed juices.

The Rooms

Each of the 37 rooms -- which range from standard queens to expansive penthouse suites flooded with natural light -- are simple, yet well appointed. Graphic accent walls and plush, printed headboards create a hipster-chic atmosphere, and the mini bar is stocked with ingredients to make a signature cocktail that rotates monthly.

The Food

With the owners' roots in the restaurant industry, the amount of thought and care that goes into perfecting the hotel’s anchor bar and café is evident. The restaurant serves Mediterranean fare with an assortment of cheese plates, pizzas, and fresh fish. An extensive Italian wine list -- something hard to come by in Paris -- includes sips from the Mount Etna slopes and Burlotto Barolos.

Who Will Love It

Travelers looking for a fresh take on an authentic Parisian stay will find Grand Pigalle’s style and sensibility distinct, contemporary, and wholly unique.

Who Might Not

Kids: Although the boutique hotel is family friendly, the cocktail-forward and sophisticated atmosphere might be lost on the younger set.

Nearby

Set in the heart of the thriving South Pigalle district, the hotel is two minutes away from the Pigalle Métro station. It's a stone's throw from shopping, markets, and the famed Montmartre district, and the Moulin Rouge is a seven-minute walk.

Rates, Deals, and Special Offers

This fall, nightly rates start at €138 ($157 USD). If you book by September 1, the hotel is offering a series of promotions that include drinks, lunch, or dinner at one of the owner's affiliate restaurants. Those who book a two-night stay, can also get a Paris by Night tour. To book, email info@grandpigalle.com and mention the Paris by Night promotion.
