Picture this: Dozens of unsuspecting Japanese bathing in a vat of pork soup and ramen noodles. No, it’s not the start to a bad fairytale where the unsuspecting people of Hakone, Japan, become dinner — it’s a popular experience at the town’s famous Yunessun Spa Resort.

Why bathe in ramen you ask? “Lately people are very concerned about having beautiful skin, and they know the effect of collagen, which is contained in our pork-based broth. At this bath, everybody can have fun and take advantage of the healthy elements of ramen noodles,” says the spa owner, Ichiro Furuya.

According to one American, who was part of the human soup, the experience was “[G]ooey. It’s weird.”

No worries if ramen isn’t your thing. Yunessan spa also has a sake bath, a green tea bath (complete with giant pouring tea pot), and more.
