A guestroom at The Edgewater in Seattle.

Wintertime is low season in Seattle, but for Midwesterners and Northeasters there’s the allure of little snow underfoot. Seattle’s average snowfall (11 inches) is much less than other Northern regions across the country and makes for the perfect winter getaway.

At The Edgewater Hotel, a posh waterfront property on Elliott Bay in Belltown, just a half-mile north of Pike Place Market — home to the original Starbucks, plus food vendors and a crafts market — and rates drop during this time of year. The hotel is offering the Wake on Water package, touting rates from at $161 — translating to up to 20 percent off the highest prices — in its waterview rooms and suites. This deal is good for stays now through March 31, 2016; book it using promo code WAKE.

We test-drove the deal and actually found city-side lodge rooms with one queen bed priced from $161.10 throughout the entire stay period, with the exception of the following dates: December 31; January 7, 9, 12, 23, 27, 28, and 30; February 2, 9, 10, 12, 13, 19, and 20; and March 5, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, and 26. This rate is a steal considering prices soar to $278-$341 on weekends in autumn, Seattle’s high season. (In April, right after the promo ends, rates climb to above $206.)

What can you expect at the hotel? Its biggest draw is that it’s on the edge of Pier 67 — so you can’t get any closer to the water than this. Most rooms boast gas fireplaces to cozy up to on a cold night, and the décor is earth-inspired with warm brown and gold hues alongside splashes of red and aqua. Tables at Six Seven offer some of the best waterfront dining in Seattle, whether you’re separated from the water indoors by a sheet of glass or out on the patio. On the brunch menu are dishes with local flair, like pancakes made with Washington apples or marionberries, or a Dungeness-crab frittata. At night, you can tuck into King salmon cooked on a cedar plank drizzled with West Seattle honey. But the best deal is during happy hour when appetizers are reduced to $5-$8 and drink prices are slashed, all to the tune of live music.
