New Orleans in summer sizzles — and it’s not just the heat. It’s the hotels, too, many of which are offering plenty of hot prices to lure in travelers. The Loews New Orleans Hotel, for one, is offering a Summer Like a Local package that pushes rates down to as low as $199.
The promotion is valid for travel through September 7, and the low rate is only the beginning. Also thrown into the offer are two tickets for a three-day hop-on/hop-off bus tour between the French Quarter and Garden District (worth $39 each), two welcome cocktails at its Swizzle Stick Bar ($9-$12 each), and complimentary valet parking nightly for one vehicle ($42). That’s at least $138 worth of extras.
So what’s the best time to stay? We found the $199 nightly rate for weekdays in August, including August 10-13 and August 17-19. If you want to stay sooner, August 3-5 is just slightly higher at $219 per night. And while you could pay as low as $159 per night without the package for those same dates, if you’re bringing along a car, your total will be bumped to $201 when you factor in the cost of parking. With only a $18 difference in price, you might as well opt for the package for the cocktails and the sightseeing tour.
Weekends in August are much higher, starting at $309 with the package and $269 without, so it really pays to be flexible with your travel dates. Still, those are solid rates compared to the fall, when you can expect to pay between $329 and $459 per night on the weekends — but not receive those extra perks.
More on the hotel: The 285-room property is in the city’s central business district on Poydras Street, making it an easy walk to the French Quarter and the Riverfront. WiFi is free in all public spaces and rooms, which were recently renovated and are among the largest in the city.
