Checking In: Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel

by  Zachary Laks | Jul 15, 2015

Having recently undergone the shift in management from Sheraton to an independent hotel company, the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel reopened for business this past May, in preparation for kicking off Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary. We recently checked into the newly revamped resort -- and found the property to be much more than a crash pad for the theme park. Here's our full report.

What’s Hot: Having invested $6 million into updating the rooms and common areas, the castle-like resort takes fun seriously, infusing a narrative of the “Legend of the Lair" throughout the hallways and carpets. Follow the story told through each floor as it snakes throughout the complex.

Best Feature: While many in Anaheim simply look for places to rest their heads between theme park adventures, the lodging here ranges from rooms of understated elegance to suites with castle bunk beds and royal half-canopies. The prices here are good for the area, too -- see Rates & Packages section below -- without compromising quality.

More About the Rooms: The large property covers 13 acres with 489 guest rooms, a portion of them still under renovation throughout the summer. We were thrilled to learn that checkout hours were extended until noon, giving us a little more time to enjoy the plush mattress.

The Food: We recommend saving time and money by fueling up at the Garden Court Bistro's complete buffet breakfast before you head to the parks. The restaurant also serves an a la carte lunch and dinner, with optional outdoor dining for the folks who call it quits at the parks before dinnertime.

Who Will Love It: Considering that the surrounding hotels and resorts cater to families with water parks and kid-friendly fare, couples who come to Anaheim will appreciate this hotel's sophistication. That said, laid-back families seeking a relaxing stay can have a good time here, too, removed from the hubbub of the parks.

Who Might Not: Since this hotel is not within walking distance, it's not for those looking for the easiest access to and from the parks for quick changes (some of the park’s rides can drench). With a focus on relaxation, the resort isn't packed with activities, either.

Nearby: Once you’ve arrived on the grounds of the hotel, your best bet for getting around is the twice-hourly free shuttle, which reaches the main entrance of the parks in under five minutes.

Rates & Packages: This summer's grand opening rates start from $119 per night, including breakfast and parking. The promotion is valid now through August 31.

Connect: Like Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel on Facebook and follow the hotel on Twitter.

Getting there: Anaheim is about an hour’s drive from LAX airport in Los Angeles. From there, car rentals average around $20 per day.
