Travel Holiday Gifts: Low to High

by  Christine Wei | Dec 1, 2014

Ready to start your holiday shopping? Whether you're looking to spend $5 or $300, here are some gifts that will delight your travel-obsessed friends and loved ones... or your travel-obsessed self. (We won't tell.)

$5-$20: For the Coffee-Drinking Design Lover
They aren't exactly an innovation in gift giving, but we're loving Starbucks' massive collection of 200+ new gift cards and drink-ware designs anyway. Gift cards feature travel-themed scenes from cities like NYC and Venice, or sport phrases including "Let's Fly Away" and "Wander," and start at just $5 -- perfect for a casual and affordable gift. You can always upgrade to a mug or thermos ($19.95). We recommend the whimsical but classy-looking hot air balloon design.

Jackery

$15+: For that Person Who's Always Low on Battery Power
We all know one of these travelers (if we aren't one ourselves) -- the ones who spend their vacations snapping photos, Instagramming, and researching local history. Good thing, then, that these lipstick-sized external battery packs cost as little as $15. We like the 18-month warranty on Anker's $16.99 charger, and the fact that Jackery's $19.95 battery boasts at least one full charge ($19.95), which not all of the cheaper models do.

Etsy/iCamShop

Around $75: For the Photo Nut
This messenger DSLR bag from Etsy's iCamShop strikes the perfect balance between stylish and sturdy, portable and roomy. The padded bottom, inserts, and adjustable dividers will protect all your gear, and the waxed canvas looks great but doesn't need to be treated gingerly. Considering there's enough room for two extra lenses, plus small pockets to fit a cellphone and other essentials, this would suffice as a light packer's only bag for a day of exploration. Need more room? Try the two-compartment backpack. The bag goes for $55, though it ships from Hong Kong and will cost an additional $20 or so to get to the States.

Ugobags

Under $200: For the Frequent Flier
Needs to step it up? Two words: Custom. Hardshell. Ugobags lets you make your luggage your own, with a photo or graphic upload. All three sizes are 100 percent polycarbonate, move easily with spinning wheels, and come with a built-in lock for security. Inside, you'll find mesh and sealed pockets for better organization. There's even a fashion designer line whose proceeds go toward charity. (From $189)

Bose

$250+: For the Special Someone
Premium headphones are certainly a splurge, but for a special traveler, the newest from Bose is worth it. The brand is loved for its noise-cancellation features, which we're sure anyone on crowded flights or even noisy hotels will be able to appreciate. Another exciting feature of the new QuietComfort 25 is how the earpieces fold into the headband. Luggage space is precious, after all. ($299.95)
