In the thick of the action, a block from San Francisco’s bustling Union Square, Hotel G is offering two promotions through the end of the year as it finishes a fresh round of renovations.
The Our Story Continues special celebrates the hotel’s new era with rates as low as $181 on November 20-27 and December 24-30. In the second half of November and the rest of December, we still found many rates hovering below or just slightly over $200, with few topping $230 — very competitive for such a central location in this West Coast city. The promotion essentially slashes 30 percent off the best available rates on the web. If that sells out before you get the chance to act, have no fear. The Advanced Purchase Rates brings down the best available costs by 25 percent, which means you’ll still find plenty of rooms for about $200 per night.
Central locations aside, this hotel’s new amenities will appeal to travelers who want a unique experience. The 153 rooms feature furnishings and artwork from Creativity Explored, a collective of local artists who are developmentally disabled, as well as free WiFi access. Other nice touches nod to the city’s past, like a tufted denim headboard that references Levi Strauss & Co. (headquartered in San Francisco since 1853). History buffs might also appreciate that the hardwood floors of the hotel’s first eight stories, along with a gorgeous wraparound staircase, are all original from the hotel’s 1908 roots.
While many restaurants can be found in and around Union Square, the first of three food and drink concepts at the hotel, Klyde Cafe & Wine Bar, will open any day now with convenient all-day dining — accented by a wine menu paired with charcuterie and cheese plates at night. Also in the works are Scarlett, a casual French brasserie, and Cooper, a craft cocktail bar.
