Gild HallTourists shouldn’t discount staying in the Financial District when visiting New York City. In fact, we’d encourage it.  There are plenty of sites to see, loads of accessible public transportation options, and you’ll never fight with the crowds. For those who appreciate stunning design and top-notch service, Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel that’s nestled along the colonial-era streets of Lower Manhattan, is a spot-on choice.

Arrive a bit later in the day, and you’ll be greeted with a glass of bubbly. The lobby is dazzling, but once you’ve checked in — your room is even more so. Rich leather furnishings, a cozy plaid throw, and the lavish bar set-up offer a warm welcome in a bustling city.

Beds here boast Jim Walrod-designed leather-tufted headboards and Sferra linens. And when you’re forced to crawl out from underneath, you’ll be treated to Frette terrycloth robes. Here, the rest of the details.

What’s Hot: The brand. Gild Hall is part of the Thompson Hotels, which is about as hot as it gets.

Best Feature: A complimentary welcome glass of Prosecco.

The Rooms: The king deluxe room features a separate living space with a small kitchen and bar. This is practically unheard of in New York City and feels incredibly spacious and inviting.

The Food and Drink: A gin martini can be sipped in the library lounge before dinner at Felice Ristorante — the hotel’s cozy Tuscan restaurant. There’s an almost-hidden wine bar on the upper-level that’s popular with locals during happy hour.

Who Will Love It: Design aficionados. The lobby is stuffed with vintage books and bikes; handsome leather sofas give you a place to sit in just about every corner, and the rich red walls are dotted with quirky photographs. It’s Instagram gold.

Who Might Not: Families. Not much to do with the kids at this hotel, but rooms are certainly spacious enough to fit the entire clan.

Deals and Special Offers: Book directly though Thompson for hotel specials and exclusive access to events and amenities.
