This deal has expired, but be sure to check out our Top 25 deals of the week for savings on trips to destinations around the globe.

If you’re yearning to flee the coop this winter for a little heat, Apple Vacations wants to help you out. Its Winter Super Sale kicks into effect for select packages in various sunny locales -- shaving close to $300 off busy season prices from booking air and hotel separately. The sale encompasses three-, five-, or seven-night trips between December 18, 2014 and April 30, 2015.

Another great part of the sale is that there aren't any blackout dates for popular holiday breaks like President’s Day weekend, Spring Break week, or the Easter holiday. Destinations include hotspots like Jamaica, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Dominican Republic from 20 U.S. departure cities, and resort options range from couples-themed enclaves (including Breathless Resorts & Spas and Secrets Resorts) to all-inclusives (like IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts and Paradisus Resorts), not to mention a wide network of Starwood properties. All deals include roundtrip airfare, airport transfers, all meals and drinks, and tips. Must be booked by November 27.

Availability is limited and pricing can change daily, but we found a range of savings up to $270-plus when we tested the promotion last night. A three-night vacation to Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport turned up some of the biggest savings. Apple Vacation's package is $998.19 per person, or $1,996.38 for two (arriving April 12 or 19, 2015). It's a savings of $271.62 compared to the total costs of booking separately, which would cost you $846 for the resort and $711 each for airfare.

Another example: Five nights at Melia Vacation Club on Mexico's Cozumel is $974 per person, or $1,948 for two, departing February 7 from Newark Liberty International Airport. This package saves you $168 off unbundled prices -- already reduced resort charges of $1,190 and $463 per-person airfare adds up to $2,116.

There are other factors to consider when deciding if these packages are for you, too. Take five nights at IBEROSTAR Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, for example. Apple Vacations offers the experience for $1,472 per person, the same you'd spend if you were to book your air and hotel separately. The difference? The package flies you over on charter flights that are either non-stop or have just one stop -- one of Apple Vacations' selling points -- rather than an inconvenient red-eye that'll take nearly 24 hours each way. Also, while some all-inclusive resorts do cover airport transfers in their rates, not all do. That means transportation included in Apple's packages could save an additional $100-$200.
