Off-Season Luxury: Florida Two Ways
For many Americans, a winter trip to Florida is a yearly ritual. But many don’t realize that it’s worthy of a visit any time of year. While it’s hot throughout most of the country come summer, Florida boasts beautiful beaches and tropical tranquility. Even better: when you go off-season, you can indulge in the luxuries you might not be able to afford at in spring or fall.
The state’s two coasts are unique, each offering charm and beauty all their own. Pick a coast, grab a fantastic off-season deal at a luxe property, and then relax and enjoy the views, smaller crowds, and ocean breezes.

While many think of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale as go-to South Florida spots, head a little farther north to Jupiter, where you’ll swear you’re on an undiscovered island. The Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa is an idyllic place to relax and unwind on their 1,000-foot Atlantic beach, where you’re likely to encounter more nesting turtles than people.
Rooms and suites include marble baths, large private terraces, and Tommy Bahama amenities. If you’re feeling tired or stressed, head to the spa for a Signature Body Renewal treatment and a Hydro-Lifting Facial, then grab a glass and fill it with the spa’s drinkable dark chocolate. You can dip fresh fruit in it, if it makes you feel better, but it’s not necessary.
Spend your days poolside, visiting the historic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, taking a standup paddleboard tour with Blueline Surf & Paddle, or just relaxing in the hammocks, surrounded by lush greenery and butterflies. Make time for dinner at the property’s oceanfront restaurant, Sinclairs.
Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa is offering a “Livin La Vida Local Package,” now through September 1, 2014, starting at $240 per night. It includes a two-night stay, two tickets to the lighthouse, two paddleboard or kayak tours with Blueline, shuttle transport to local restaurants, a mixology lesson, beach cruiser bikes, and a $25 resort credit.

The Resort at Longboat Key Club in Sarasota offers amenities that cater to a wide range of needs and tastes. There are two golf courses, 20 tennis courts, eight dining and drinking choices, a marina, and a children’s camp, for starters. Junior, one-, or two-bedroom suites have full gourmet kitchens and ocean views. The spa is newly renovated, and dining options include homemade pastas at the marina-front restaurant, Portofino, and farm-to-table specialties at The Tavern & Whiskey Bar.
Should you wish to stay active throughout your stay, hopping from tennis to golf to volleyball and paddleboarding on the beach, they’ll transport you anywhere you want to go on the sprawling, flower-filled grounds.
The Resort at Longboat Key Club is currently offering several packages, such as the Opal Family Package, which includes free breakfast for children under 12 and a $100 resort credit, starting at $310 a night; and the Opal Dining Package, including dinner at any of their restaurants and breakfast, which starts at $379 a night.
