A Segway tour is a great way to get an overview of a new city or region. You’ll cover more ground than you would on foot, and your guide can teach you about the local history, suggest restaurants, and refer you to other great tours in the area. Plus, Segways are just fun to ride. Here are 10 awesome Segway tours to add to your bucket list.

Chicago: Several companies operate in Chicago, but Absolutely Chicago Segway offers a few unique options in addition to the standard tour past Grant Park, the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Soldier Field. We like the Chicago Gangster tour ($65) featuring the hangouts of Al Capone and other wise guys and the Chicago Haunted Tour ($65) that glides you past haunted hotels, murder sites, and even a morgue. If you are in town during Halloween, the guides dress up as ghouls for the haunted tour.

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania:

You can tour Gettysburg National Military Park by car, but a Segway puts you in the middle of things. Segway Tours of Gettysburg offers two main tours: a Western Battlefield tour ($70) and Eastern Battlefield tour ($50). The Western tour provides a basic overview of the Battle of Gettysburg and stops at Pickett’s Charge, Little Round Top, the Peach Orchard, and Devil’s Den while the Eastern tour is recommended for those who have a more in-depth understanding of the battle and its history.

Florence, Italy:

You’ll find Segway tours in every major Italian city, but it’s hard to beat Florence when it comes to history, art and culture. Italy by Segway ’s day tour (75 euros) hits all the highlights, including the Dome of Brunelleschi, the Ufizi Gallery, the Piazza della Republic, and Santa Croce. A nighttime option (65 euros) allows you to see the sites beautifully illuminated.

Bonus: If you’re heading to Rome instead, check out Rex Tours . The Ancient Rome Tour (79 euros) visits the Roman Forum, Coliseum Circus Maximus, and Theater of Marcellus. The Rome City Tour (79 euros) brings guests past the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.

Prague, Czech Republic:

Old world beauty, incredible art, and amazing beer make Prague one of Europe’s premiere cities. You’ll see why on a Segway tour. Segway Experience ’s Grand City Tour ($75) brings visitors past St. Nicholas Church, Prague Castle, Strahov Monastery and the thirteenth century homes of the Old Town. Once you’ve seen the highlights, consider the Segway Movie Tour ($75). You’ll watch actual movie clips on portable DVD screens as you pass locations made famous by classical and contemporary movies such as Amadeus.

Quepos, Costa Rica:

Segway Costa Rica ’s basic tour ($59) takes riders into Nahomi Park and along a raised walkway that borders the Pacific Ocean. You could also opt instead for the 3-hour Jungle Island Segway Tour ($95) that extends the basic tour with a ferry boat ride to Cocal Island where you’ll meet villagers, visit a sugar plantation, and pick your own coconut.

Madrid, Spain:

English-speaking Anthony of Madsegs makes this tour Madrid’s best. The Edinburgh native and world champion Segway rider limits his tour groups to a maximum of eight riders, takes photos of your trip, and buys you a drink. Sights along the way include the Royal Gardens, the Royal Palace of Madrid and Templo de Debod, and an Egyptian temple presented by Egypt as a gift to Spain.

Chania, Crete:

This town on the Greek island of Crete offers an incredible amount of history in every square mile. Chania Segway Tours leads 1-hour (39 euros) and a 2-hour (59 euros) of the Old City and harbor, including the municipal market, several churches, cathedrals and temples, the Venetian walls, and the Egyptian Lighthouse. If you have experience riding Segways, try the advanced Halepa Tour (45 euros) that takes you through Kum Kapi, an area once inhabited by North African slaves, and the wealthy Halepa neighborhood.

Copenhagen, Denmark:

Most of Copenhagen’s attractions are within walking distance, making Denmark’s capital city ideal for a Segway tour. You’ll see the sculpture of the Little Mermaid, the colorful buildings of Nyhavn, Tivoli Gardens, the Royal Library, Christiansborg Palace, and the distinctive tower of Rundetaarn on the 1-hour ($77) and 2-hour ($87) options offered by Segway Tours Copenhagen .
Jerusalem, Israel:

Visit some of the most sacred places on earth on a Segway. ZuZu has several standout Jerusalem tours. Take the Mishkenot Shaananim to the Wailing Wall Tour ($60) to learn the history of the Old City and visit the Sultan’s Pool, Hutzot Hayotzer artist colony, and King David Street. Or, opt for the Armon Ha-Natziv Promenade Tour ($60) for views of the Olive Mount, Old City and Temple Mount. ZuZu also offers Segway tours of the Biblical Zoo and tours in Tel Aviv.
