There's been quite a bit of action on the hotel front in London recently, and across a wide spectrum of hotel types, too. Shangri-La at The Shard has been hogging most of the spotlight – it is the city's tallest building, to be fair – but it's not just luxury travelers that are being targeted by the new crop. On your next stay, you'll find mid-range and budget options, and everything in between. Here's a sampler of the four newest places that should be on your radar:

From $240 per night
The first guests began arriving last month to the wonderfully revamped former Jurys Inn, located in riverside Chelsea, one block from the Imperial Wharf tube stop. Now known officially as DoubleTree by Hilton London – Chelsea, the 172-room property has been completely renovated with new beds, bathrooms, and an on-site restaurant. There's still no gym, but with all the walking you'll do exploring surrounding Chelsea, that shouldn't be a problem.

From $243 per night
Z Piccadilly, the third installment from the folks at budget-friendly Z Hotels, is a smart, urban-chic 112-room property housed in a former office building. Rooms are compact, but the minimalist efficiency (think: HDTVs, free Wifi, and individual climate control panels) completely makes up for the lack of stretching space. And that's not to mention the fabulous location – Picadilly Circus is just a few steps away.

From $623 per night
Though a Superior room at the new Ham Yard Hotel goes for about £200 less than the Luxury Junior Suite, cost-conscious guests will hardly miss the extra 150 square feet. Instead, the spacious bathrooms, colorful furnishings, and tantalizing city views will give you plenty to swoon over. Meanwhile, a central garden with custom-designed bronze sculpture, 188-seat movie theater, bowling alley, rooftop bar, and lobby level restaurant are the perfect compliments to the hotel's playful vibe.

From $796 per night
About a month ago, the soaring Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard opened to rave reviews, with panoramic views across London (and binoculars are offered in every room to truly enjoy them) and access to not one, but three high-end dining spots (the bakery Lang, the cocktail bar Gong, and the main restaurant Ting). Rooms are predictably sleek, with generous helpings of marble, silk, and shiny wood surfaces. It's certainly a very, very special splurge, but did we mention the added bonus of butler service in the seventeen suites?
