There's something universally mysterious and appealing about a full moon. Across the globe, it makes its way into legends, folk traditions, and spiritual practices. And now hotels all over are beginning to feel the vibes, too, offering everything from specialty cocktails, to yoga, to sailing under the stars at the end of each lunar cycle. Don't worry, you don't have to believe in werewolves or astrological predictions to enjoy these activities:

In Chile’s San Pedro de Atacama, both the Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa and Hotel Cumbres host special hiking excursions at the end of the lunar cycle. Alto Atacama takes visitors through an illuminated Mars Valley, named after the red planet, as a part of the all-inclusive experience, while Hotel Cumbres focuses on the astronomy as seen from the dunes ($37). Both treks include dinner, at the hotel and in the dunes respectively. Rooms start at $560 and $495 respectively.

Tap into the healing powers of the moon at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Ft. Lauderdale, where monthly yoga sessions are held on the beach in honor of the full moon. Events are typically announced on the property’s Facebook page. Rooms start at $229.

Anyone can go sailing or stargazing - but what about a mash-up of the two? At Biras Creek Resort, visitors have the chance to go boating in the British Virgin Island’s North Sound. When they're not enjoying island rum cocktails and local cheese and charcuterie, they can take a peek through the onboard telescope. It costs $100 per person to sail, and a minimum of five people must sign up. Rooms start at $500, including breakfast.

What better way to celebrate a full moon than with s’mores? You can make them at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in New Mexico’s Santa Ana Pueblo. It’s a classic summer evening pastime, and, best of all, it’s one of the many complimentary activities at the property. On an inter-generational trip? There's also Story Under the Stars, where a Native American storyteller shares creation stories that are a part of the area's culture. Rooms start at $209.

If you’re seeking more laid-back delights, head to Michigan's JW Marriott Grand Rapids and the jdek, an outdoor patio with firepits that crackle into the night. On full moon evenings, award-winning mixologist Kelli Rowland creates a special Sweet Treat cocktail, a combination of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey and Godiva white chocolate liquer with a touch of mint and fizz. Rooms start at $209.

Over in Rhode Island, Weekapaug Inn – the very image of New England comfort – offers evening boat rides for its guests. For $40, paddlers have nearly two hours to glide in calm waters and soak in the glowing reflections. The next dates are August 10 and September 8. Rooms rates start at $445.

Celebrating a special occasion? The full moon private beach dinner package at Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach in Florida's Sunny Isles Beach doesn’t come cheap, but it’s certainly as luxe as can be. The five-star, five-diamond hotel sitting on almost five acres of sand already sets a romantic mood. A candle- and moon-lit dinner for two – followed by a walk on the sand – makes the experience all the more memorable. One-night accommodations and dinner from $651.
