Can you believe it's almost 10 years since an eight-strong crew of world leaders descended upon Sea Island, Georgia to convene at the 30th G8 Summit? Bush, Blair, Chirac et al slept and ate at the five-star Sea Island, and, for an amazing price, you can too.

To commemorate the summit, the resort is offering rooms for $8 through January and February. Guests paying full price for two nights at The Cloister (the main building and wings) will be able to book a third night for only $8. We found rates for as low as $370 per night, so, with the special offer, that would work out to $250 a night - not bad for a five-star resort.

Individually designed guest rooms feature wood furnishings, exposed beam ceilings, hardwood floors,  handmade Turkish rugs, and spacious deep-soaking tubs with separate rainhead showers. Resort facilities include tennis courts, a spa, and three championship golf courses. If you happen to plan your visit for the weekend of January 17 - 19, you might bump into Downtown Abbey's Tom Branson. Allen Leech, who plays the character, will be hosting a series of events at the resort that weekend: a “Downton Abbey” pub quiz on Friday evening, a question-and-answer session on Saturday followed by a five-course dinner paired with wine, and an episode screening on Sunday followed by an early-20th-century-inspired ball. Prices for the events will be between $35 and $225 (but the Q&A is free for hotel guests).
