Thanksgiving is fast approaching and, if you are thinking about a last-minute ditch-your-family getaway, but worry that holiday fares will be astronomical, a limited but rather excellent – dare we say, classy – deal from Virgin Atlantic can get you to London for a long weekend in the comfort of Upper Class.
In case you aren’t familiar with Virgin’s ultra-luxe Upper Class service, a few things you can look forward to include chauffeur transfer services; 33” wide flat beds (the longest of any airline’s business class), an onboard bar, and clubhouses with cocktail bars and spas.
On both November 25 and 26 we found Upper Class fares from New York JFK to London Heathrow going for an unheard of $664 – that’s actually cheaper than both Premium Economy Class, which would cost you $1,946, and even Economy, where you’d pay $772. That is based on a round-trip, however, and the same bargain is not available on the return leg – you’d have to pay $2,521 to return on in Upper Class on December 2nd, $862 in Premium Economy or $580 in Economy Class.
On November 26th you can get an outward bound flight from Boston to Heathrow for $769, but, again, the deal isn’t available for the return flight, which would cost you $3,414 in Upper Class, $2,255 in Premium Economy, or $850 in Economy.
From Washington, D.C., you can fly to London on November 26 in Upper Class for as little as $874. The return trip, on the other hand, will cost you $2,268 in Upper Class (Dec 1 or 2); $897 in Premium Economy (Dec 3) or $907 in Economy.
Even if we only get to enjoy it one way, we’re tempted to hop the pond purely for the once-in-a-lifetime luxury flight experience.
