Inspired Travel: Pulpit Rock in Norway
Are you one for living on the edge? Do you love a good view? Have you always wanted to visit Norway? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then add Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, in Rogaland, Norway to your travel bucket list.
Known for it’s sheer rockface and striking overlook, this plateau rock is over 1,900 feet tall. The four to five hour hike is well-traversed, but not for the faint of heart. From the top you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Lysefjord and much of Norway’s lush countryside. And of course, an incredible site like Preikestolen comes with a legend: There’s a crack between the plateau of Pulpit Rock and the mountain it’s connected to; it’s said that on the day that seven sisters marry seven brothers from the Lysefjord area, the plateau will tear itself off the mountain and fall into the fjord, therefore creating a huge wave that will destroy all life in the area. At least they have a fair warning! Scroll down for the amazing full picture.
