Hurricane Sandy has been ravaging the East Coast for a couple of days now, and many homes have lost power. Hopefully, if you're in the path of the storm, you've already stocked up on supplies, food, and water. Here at SkyMall Tuesday HQ, we're getting by with macaroni and cheese, whiskey, and whatever animals we snare in the traps set out throughout the apartment building. Of course, we stocked up on canned goods and nonperishable items to get us through the week. However, we now realize that we made a grave mistake. Rather than relying on our own forethought and planning, we should have given ourselves over to the wisdom of SkyMall. Our favorite catalog is there for us in good times and bad, during celebrations and disasters. So, whether you're still planning for Sandy or want to be prepared for the next emergency, be sure you stock up on the 72-Hour Emergency Meal Kit.

Hoarding food before a storm is a tricky proposition. Unless you act early, supermarkets run out of staples like bread and water. (Note: during times of stress, people prefer to simulate prison experiences.) Additionally, if you lose electricity, you run the risk of having to eat everything inside your refrigerator in one large, insane omelet. That's why it's critical to possess an emergency meal kit.

Think that you can easily stock your pantry with soups, pastas, and other essentials? Believe gearing up for three days doesn't require emergency rations? Well, while you decide which of your children to eat first, we'll be reading the product description:

A complete 72 hour emergency meal kit that contains 3 full meals per day. Just add water. 7 year shelf life.

Breakfast: Granola with Blueberries and Milk, Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and Scrambled Eggs with Ham and Peppers.

Vegetables: Garden Green Peas, Whole Kernel Corn and Cut Green Beans.

Lunch and Dinners: Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Teriyaki with Rice, Chili Mac with Beef, Rice and Chicken, Pasta Primavera and Sweet/Sour Pork with Rice.

During natural disasters, it's critical that you continue to enjoy pan-Asian cuisine. For normalcy. We recommend that you alternate between rice and pasta meals to create a beautifully striated carbohydrate dam in your gut.

In all seriousness, we here at ShermansTravel hope that you are safe, dry, and out of harm's way. When the storm has passed and this is all a distant memory, we might just have to host a 72-Hour Emergency Meal Kit dinner party. Until then, we'll just try to stay dry.
