This deal has expired, but be sure to check out our Top 25 deals of the week for savings on trips to destinations around the globe.

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving Week is one of the cheapest of the year at hotels across the country. As most people stay close to home or with family during the holiday, rates dip to fill up rooms. So this year, why not shake things up and take a trip over Turkey Day? With prices these low – and all at 4-star hotels – there's no reason not to get away.

New York City has plenty of draws for a Thanksgiving visit, from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to fantastic sales on Black Friday. 4-star hotels in the Big Apple offer low rates during the week, like the trendy Stay Hotel, located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, for as little at $187 per night when you stay three nights. Rates at the Stay go up to $399 per night in December, which means you’ll be saving over 50 percent. Or, stay at the 4.5-star W New York Downtown Hotel, one of the most stylish hotel brands in the world, for an incredible $197 per night – a savings of $250 on rates earlier in the fall (in fact, these rates at the W hold on many nights through mid-December, and go up to just $213 per night over Christmas week).

New England is the birthplace of Thanksgiving, so historic Boston also makes for a great destination during the holiday. The Onyx, a Kimpton Hotel, near the shopping and sites of downtown, offers rates for only $143 per night during Thanksgiving week, which saves you over 55 percent on surrounding dates at the same hotel. Or choose the luxe Fairmont Copley Plaza, a 4.5-star hotel in Boston's upscale Back Bay neighborhood, from just $219 per night over Thanksgiving – and $209 per night over Christmas, and many dates earlier in December. These rates come out to a 45 percent savings on nights earlier in the fall.

Chicago offers its own famous parade and Black Friday shopping close to Millennium Park, plus unbelievably low 4-star hotel rates on the Magnificent Mile, like the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago from $85 per night, the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago from $89 per night, and the Hyatt Regency Chicago from $118 per night.

If you want to get somewhere warmer over the holiday, Southern California makes for a great destination, with flights from around the country currently at some of the lowest rates we've seen all year (New York City to San Diego, for instance, starts from just $261, round-trip). The Hotel Solamar, A Kimpton Hotel in San Diego, near the vibrant Gaslamp District, is only $104 per night during Thanksgiving week, and the Hotel Maya, on laid-back Long Beach, is just $118 per night.

All of the above rates listed are available from November 18-24, and some on more dates throughout December. Book now, before everyone else catches on to one of the hotel industry's best-kept secrets.
