Looking for a weekend getaway that provides a chance to show off your running or mountain biking chops – or learn how to paddle board on the largest alpine lake in the United States? Consider the Adventure Sports Week Tahoe, in Lake Tahoe, California, from June 15-24.

In its second year, this 10-day outdoor sports extravaganza draws both pro and amateur athletes. On tap are a series of triathlons and trail running events, including a 5K, 10K, and half marathon. There are also triathlons, a duathlon, paddle boarding, and swimming events, as well as pro clinics,  live concerts, and  family-friendly activities.

And, if you're still looking for a last-minute Memorial Day getaway, Lake Tahoe's popular Village at Squaw is offering an enticing deal: a whopping 50 percent discount, starting at just $58 per person, including resort fees (but not tax), in a double-occupancy condo.

For Adventure Sports Week, the trail running events (5K, 10K, half and full marathon) take place on June 17 at the scenic Burton Creek, in Tahoe City, a hidden gem of a park in the area featuring more than 2,000 acres of forest and meadowland.

On June 21, athletes new to trail running can take advantage of a huge, and free, equipment demo, with 200 pairs of Salomon trail shoes on hand (er, foot) to try out. In addition, participants will take a scenic run along the world-renowned Tahoe Rim Trail at 3pm, followed by a Q&A session with Salomon's top trail runners, including ultra-runners who will tackle the Western States 100-mile run.

Multi-sport athletes can choose from two triathlons or a duathlon on June 23. The week-long event wraps up the following day with the Run to Squaw, a 7.9-mile race that takes place on one of the North Shore’s more popular routes, the paved Truckee River Bike Trail, and runs from Tahoe City to the Village at Squaw. With minimal elevation gain, the race is ideal for newbie runners or anybody looking to log a fast time, and there are aid stations along the entire route.
