Music, partying, and sports features heavily on the Jamaican psyche, and Jake's on Treasure Beach is taking it to the next level with their Countdown to Jamaica’s 50th special, featuring hotel deals, food and spa vouchers, and other festivities in anticipation of Jamaica’s 50th independence day on August 6.

Starting from August 4, celebrations at the boutique hotel include a beach bonfire party playing hits from Jamaica’s rich musical culture, a beach soccer tournament involving 18 teams, and the premier of One People, a documentary capturing what Jamaica means to the rest of the world. And when you have to stumble back to your room, Jakes is offering 20 percent off their usual rates, starting from $94 a night. Choose between 49 of the hotel’s wildly colorful rooms, many of which face the Caribbean, its 31 cottages with antique furniture and louvered windows, or the establishment’s three eclectically decorated villas. To keep your focus purely on relaxation, most rooms are not equipped with televisions or telephones, but the hotel offers picnic baskets for excursions and tour guides for day trips to surrounding villages.

All that partying taking its toll? Jakes has got you covered with their $50 food and spa voucher. Refresh at the oceanfront Driftwood Spa, which offers treatments like massages, scrubs, and facials using all-natural local products. And when the hunger pangs hit, head to the eco-friendly Jakes Country Cuisine, which turns seasonal produce into gourmet delights, or to Jack Sprat Restaurant, famous for their pizza and freshly grilled seafood.

If all that luxury is just too overwhelming, other festivities await outside Jakes’ walls. Check out the Jamaica 50 Golden Jubilee Village in Kingston, a 5-day exhibition from August 1 that highlights Jamaican cuisine, arts and culture, and local products, or the Appleton Temptation Isle (ATI) Independence Weekend, a hedonistic 18-hour dance party in Negril from August 3 to 6. For something mellower, the Ocho Rios Seafood Festival on August 5 features culinary treasures from the Caribbean on top of live music performances.

Good things, unfortunately, never last forever. Jakes’ deal expires on August 6 and requires you to travel before September 16. To book, visit their website and enter the code JBG into the promotion box.
