Womp-womp: After much back-and-forth about how to distribute aviation tax refunds to travelers who bought tickets – and paid the man – for flights during the partial FAA shutdown, the IRS has announced that it will not, in fact, give flyers any cash back.

The reauthorization bill that senate passed to end the shutdown Friday included a clause that retroactively reinstates those taxes. The good news: It’s giving passengers who bought tickets during the partial shutdown a break and will not collect any back taxes. Good thing, since we all know the airlines already snatched most of that cash.
