2011 New Yearsretouched IiThe Music City will be living up to its moniker as it rings in 2012, thanks to its newly announced – and entirely free – Bash on Broadway celebration, featuring a musical lineup headlined by Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd. What’s more, Nashville will be launching a new “music note” drop, featuring a 15-foot tall musical note that will descend 115 feet as the clock strikes midnight, culminating with a fireworks display and a blitz of confetti.

Nasvhille’s third annual New Year’s Eve street party will be held in downtown, on Lower Broadway, with the festivities kicking off at 7pm. Other musical guests are set to include country acts Jeffrey Steele, Edens Edge, and THE FARM. Can’t make it in person? Opt for the next best thing: Hear the tunes performed live, as the Bash on Broadway is broadcast nationally on Sirius XM Radio.

If you’re headed to town earlier, this city – which knows how to throw a music-fueled party pretty much any night of the year – also offers rockin’ freebies on December 29, with highlights like the Zac Brown Band concert at the Bridgestone Arena. Or, head to Riverfront Park the following day, when an afternoon concert of the Small Time Rock Stars will be followed up by the much-buzzed about Bowl game (pitting Wake Forest against Mississippi State).
