Seattle Spas Four SeasonsSeattle’s Starbucks single-handedly kicked off the Americana coffee craze and has since birthed a very competitive barista culture where a perfect cuppa is comparable to reaching caffeinated Nirvana, another Seattle signature.

Whether it’s the grunge bands or the notorious Microsoft country, a cafe or a string of rainy days, Seattle has several city signatures, many of which have made their way into the city’s top spas. Don’t expect a Bill Gates blowout or a Nirvana neck massage, but rest assured that coffee and rain are prevalent on Seattle’s spa menus.

Four Seasons Seattle

The Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Seattle is by far one of the best hotels in the city. This five star stunner is true to the Four Seasons luxury driven brand, especially when it comes to customer service and their many amenities. Yet the design is pure Pacific Northwest, a true reflection of the surrounding area and the natural aesthetics.

Seattle is a very design-driven city. It’s fitting then that The Four Seasons Seattle boasts a cutting edge aesthetic with sleek minimalist modern interiors comprised of locally sourced wood and stone.

The design carries through the 6,000-square-foot space with eight treatment rooms, which again embody natural elements of the coastal region of Puget Sound. The spa’s soothing décor combines water with basalt rock and glass tile, an urban interpretation of the Northwest’s rugged and natural beauty. The spa offers tasteful private soaking tubs overlooking the serene Elliott Bay.

Seattle Spas Four Seasons 2Once in the spa there are endless treatment options on the menu, many with a therapeutic and healing appeal. The signature treatment, The Emerald Rain ($240 for 80 minutes), in honor of the area’s rainy climate, is an absolute must. This transformative treatment is designed to sync energies and release any blockages within the body.

The service begins with a stimulating yet relaxing foot massage that encourages an energetic release. Drops of essential oils fall like rain delicately onto the spine and are massaged into the skin using a gentle feathering technique to stimulate the central nervous system – leaving you feeling completely released, detoxified, and renewed. Be prepared for a seriously deep and dream-filled sleep within the treatment. It’s a truly blissful sliver.

Once deeply relaxed it’s time to step it up with their Detoxifying Espresso Mud Pedicure ($85 for 60 minutes). Enjoy the detoxifying and hydrating benefits of coffee and clay with this soothing and hypnotic foot treatment.

The pedicure includes a bourbon vanilla soak, followed by an espresso mud scrub and an application of a warm seaweed serum, infused into the skin and wrapped up in warm booties used to seal the moisture. A deep and relaxing leg and foot massage with peppermint lotion, crushed mint and arnica ease sore feet and aching muscles – get ready for the toes to tingle.

Finish with a fire engine red polish, a signature cocktail, and spirited conversation as The Spa’s staff is wildly entertaining. You will feel relaxed and invigorated, like a Pacific Northwest local from tip to toe.

The SalishSalish Lodge & Spa

The Salish Lodge and Spa has long been the local go-to for weddings, honeymoons, and romantic getaways. It’s easy to see why: Upon arrival, the first thing you see and hear is the roar and the rush of the Snoqualmie Falls’ whitewater tumbling into the canyon, 300 feet below.

The famous Snoqualmie Falls are reason enough to stop. The Salish is reason to make an evening or a luxurious weekend of it. The recently renovated 89 rooms are spa-worthy in their own right, with wood-burning fireplaces, jetted tubs, beautiful views of the Snoqualmie River, and an extensive pillow menu.

Do make it a point to lift that well-heeled head and venture out, as the restaurants are excellent and utilize local and indigenous products and traditional techniques.

The spa has a string of awards and accolades, including being named one of the best in the business by Conde Nast Traveler and Seattle Magazine. The spa, like the hotel, has undergone renovations, which added slate flooring, hardwood molding, and a new state-of-the-art relaxation room. It’s the perfect setting for serenity and true transformation.

Seattle Spas SalishOnce settled in, dip into those local treatments that scream Seattle. If you haven’t had your fill on the caffeine front, then the Northwest Coffee Exfoliation is just the high-octane ticket. Locally roasted coffee is blended with sea salt to create an invigorating blend that sloughs off those dead skin cells. Followed by a warm shower, this awakens the senses and soul and releases any unnecessary stress and tension ($125 for 50 minutes).

Salish’s Puget Sound Seaweed Body Firming Wrap will nourish your body with seaweed found deep in the waters of the Puget Sound. The water itself contains essential nutrients, pure minerals, and moisturizing agents that soften the skin and tone the tissue. A full body of the seaweed firming mask, a Glacial Revitalizing Mist, and a lush covering of seaweed body butter will leave your skin feeling silky and Seattle smooth ($125 for 50 minutes).

Now you can see why some call Seattle Bill Gates country and why others call it God’s country.
