As the New Year approaches, one resolution prevails: It’s time to jump-start a wellness campaign and get fit! Here are three delightful, family-founded destinations where you can spa like a pro at a guilt-free price-tag.

Adler Thermae Spa & Wellness Resort
Adler Thermae sits atop a verdant hillside in picturesque olive grove and vineyard studded Tuscany just a five-minute walk from the medieval town of Bagno Vignoni. Located two hours north of Rome and an hour south of Siena, the Val d’Orcia region is famous for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino, which are produced nearby. Starting on Sundays through March 2012, the “Tuscan Nature” package ($1,300 per person) features four-night superior accommodations (with views from a balcony or terrace), breakfast and dinner in a glass-roofed dining room, afternoon snack, unlimited access to the indoor/outdoor pools, a grotto, a heated Watsu pool, fitness facility, and the serene relaxation room, even mountain bikes. Included in the price are a facial, a wine wrap, a milk and honey body treatment, and two massages: an olive and a grape! www.adler-thermae.com

Rancho La Puerta / Rancho La Puerta

Rancho La Puerta
At Rancho La Puerta, spagoers discover that the clay-tile paths, stone bridges, and sage, rosemary, and lavender gardens connect a community that has been devoted to the wellness experience since Deborah Szekely founded it in 1940. From morning hikes and inner journeys, to 50 fitness classes, evening lectures, and dance sessions, the Ranch, as it is affectionately called, is a week-long escape from stress. Most guests are transported (complimentary) from San Diego Airport to Tecate, Mexico, just south of the border. The Saturday to Saturday (7 night/8 day) package starts at $2,985 per person plus tax double occupancy and includes accommodations, all meals and snacks, and more activities than time to enjoy them all. Spa services, cooking classes, and tennis lessons are a la carte. www.rancholapuerta.com

Spa Eastman / Spa Eastman

Spa Eastman
Spa Eastman, a 315-acre “country village estate” is a 90-minute drive east of Montreal, Canada. The spa facility, pool, and hammam are on the lower level of the tri-level lodge. The lounge, lecture rooms, and dining room are on the entry level and bedrooms are upstairs. On the complex, two new hot tubs face the pond and a path leads to cottage accommodations, a fitness pavilion, and 9 miles of walking/snow shoeing paths. (BYO cross country skis or ski at nearby Mount Orford.) The Relaxation à La Carte package (treatments are a la carte) starts at $545 per person and includes three meals daily, access to installations, and some bilingual fitness activities (lectures are in French). A holiday promotion adds a fourth consecutive night free to guests arriving December 24, 25, 30, or 31. www.spa-eastman.com
