Thanks to some great online travel deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you can shop for your adventurous self, as well as everybody else on your gift list, without battling nary a nasty shopper for a parking spot. Here are some steals I found on destinations that will have you hitting the slopes, enjoying sand and sun, and saving plenty of Benjamins in the process. And that's something every traveler can be thankful for.
At the Westin Monache Resort in Mammoth, California – part of Mammoth Mountain, one of the state's most beloved ski resorts, which has unveiled some major renovations and upgrades this season – Cyber Monday discounting starts on November 28 and stretches until December 4. Snag savings of about 25 percent off the regular rate, with prices from $229 in December; $389 in January, February, and March 2012; and $209 in April 2012. There are no minimum-stay requirements (perfect for a quick weekend getaway), but sale rates must be prepaid, are nonrefundable, and are subject to holiday blackout periods. If your idea of adventure is more sand and sun than slopes and snow, then check out the current deal on offer at the Kura Hulanda Resorts in Curaçao. Book two nights at either of their two properties on Cyber Monday, and you’ll get a third night free. (I’ve stayed at the property’s Lodge & Beach Club property before, and it’s sublime – make sure you tack on a climb up Mt. Cristoffel for an adrenaline-inducing Caribbean fix). Another tropical hot-spot teeming with adventurous offerings: Costa Rica.
