Why should Cinderella get to hog up all of the fairy-doled out fun? Upscale Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Georgia (set about 60 miles north of Atlanta), strives to share the fairy wealth with its guests, courtesy of the services of their very own on-site Fairy Godmother. Don’t believe it? Just check out her special wand that’s on display in the reception area. Need more proof? Well just let her work her magic – the Fairy Godmother (we’ll call her “FG”) is equipped with a bag of tricks designed to make guests' wishes come true.

Have her set up a fairytale proposal (she helps orchestrate an average of 6 per month), romantic evening, birthday, anniversary, or a special occasion of choice. One example of the dozen or so “spells” available on the creative Love Spell Menu (though note the FG can customize all requests) is the Love Me S’More, whereby guests return to their cottage to find a glowing fireplace, candlelight, hot chocolate for two, a bottle of Bailey’s, and all of the makings for s’ mores; it’s listed at a cost of $175.

While romance and love spells are her specialties, the FG is also quite fond of the wee ones, and has been known to engage kids to be fairies and wizards in training, and has even put together special pooch packages for four-legged guests. On a girls’ getaway? The Fairy Godmother can set up a Margarita party in a snap; she once even transformed a private on-site garden into a “mini-Paris” for a girls’ group celebrating a 40th birthday.

So just who is this Fairy Godmother? Her name is Denise Webb, and she was, fittingly for her character, hired by a real-live prince (Prince Hubertus Fugger of Germany) over a decade ago, who was the previous owner of the hotel and who noticed her penchant for making things happen, no matter budgetary or time restraints. And what exactly does her job entail?  To make guests' dreams come true, of course.

All she needs is 48 hours' notice to work her magic. And best of all – guests are charged at cost, meaning that you’ll only pay for supplies, and not for any fancy fairy services. And that’s one fairytale that’s not make-believe. Winter promotional rates start at $299/night, with a second-night consecutive stay available for just $99; www.barnsleyresort.com.
