If you have a thing for H2O – you love to be near it, in it, over it, or under it – here’s a sampling of some of the unique water-centric features of a variety of resort and cruise ship spas in the U.S. and around the globe. All are located on or near the ocean as well, so it’s water, water everywhere!

Deep Ocean Spa, Bora Bora: If you are planning a romantic getaway or honeymoon, consider the exotic South Pacific island of Bora Bora, where The Deep Ocean Spa at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa (shown above at left) is a water-lovers’ fantasy come true. Features include overwater treatment rooms with glass panels in the floor so you can spy on fish as your back is massaged, and an al fresco hydrotherapy circuit filled with mineral-rich sea water pumped from 3,000 feet below the Pacific. Rooms from $670, treatments from $108.

Lapis Spa / Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Lapis Spa, Miami: When the Morris Lapidus-designed mid-century Fontainebleau Miami Beach underwent a $1 billion transformation a few years ago, the owners added a 40,000-square-foot spa that is all about thermal therapies and relaxing water treatments (shown at right), such as mineral water jet baths, rain tunnels, and a Bleau Rain Room that envelops guests in a blue haze as warm water jets massage. Rooms from $295, treatments from $135.

Spa Grande, Maui: Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort on the sunny shores of Maui, is celebrating its 20th anniversary, which means its water-centric Spa Grande has been pampering guests for two decades. Arrive an hour early for any of 100 treatments and soak in the soothing waters of its hydrotherapy circuit, which features five aromatic baths, a bubbling Japanese Furo bath, a Roman hot tub, a cold plunge, and a cascading waterfall. Rooms from $369, treatments from $115.

huvafen027 / Huvafen Fushi

Lime Spa, Maldives: Opt for blissful overwater treatment rooms or the world’s first-ever underwater treatment rooms (shown at left), with huge windows peering onto the ocean floor and ethereal curtains meant to mirror ocean kelp, at Huvafen Fushi, a modern, eco-sensitive resort in the exotic Indian Ocean island nation of the Maldives. The spa also features a variety of hot- and cold-water therapies to enjoy pre-treatment. Rooms from $1,050, treatment prices upon request.

Zoetry Thalasso Center & Spa, Mexico: Set on 14 oceanfront acres with a private beach just 20 minutes south of Cancun, Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita, a wellness-focused luxury all-inclusive, features a 22,000-square-foot Thalasso Center & Spa (the first Thalasso center to be certified in North America) focused on therapies using freshly heated seawater, seaweed, and marine mud. Rooms from $534, all-inclusive (including one complimentary Thalasso seawater treatment), and treatment prices available upon request.

White Horse Spa, Ireland: Named for the unbridled waves that crash against Ireland’s west coast in Doughmore Bay in scenic County Clare, this spa in the Lodge at Doonbeg is all about the healing elements of the sea – from seaweed wraps and facials to seaweed baths with VOYA products that originated in Strandhill a century ago. Rooms from $206, treatments from $120.

Kamalame Cay Spa / Kamalame Cay

The Spa at Kamalame Cay, Bahamas: Just a short hop from Florida in the sunny Bahamas, Kamalame Cay, located off the island of Andros, features an intimate overwater spa (shown at right) that emphasizes restorative treatments in a tranquil private island setting. Therapies are nature-based, utilizing ingredients from both land and sea. Rooms from $395, treatments from $60.

The Mandara Spa on Norwegian Epic: During days at sea when you are surrounded by water, you can soak up its benefits in the water-centric spa onboard Norwegian Epic, which debuted in 2010 as Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest and most contemporary ship. The spa features a hydrotherapy circuit with a trio of pools, thermal benches and saunas with windows so you can watch the ocean waves as you relax before or after a treatment. Seven-night cruises from $759 per person, treatments from $99.

Qua Baths & Spa, Atlantic City: Housed in Caesars Atlantic City, located on the city’s famous boardwalk just yards from Atlantic Ocean, Qua Baths & Spa features Roman Baths (three pools of varying temperatures as well as an herbal steam room), which are included as a prelude to every treatment. Rooms from $119, treatments prices available upon request.
