I got an early look at the summer forecast that Bing Travel (www.bing.com/travel) is releasing tomorrow and the bad news likely won’t shock deal seekers: Overall, hotel rates and airfares will be higher than they were last summer.

Expect summer domestic airfares to claw skyward by about 15 percent per round-trip ticket, averaging $561, up from about $485 last year. Likewise, the study reveals that round-trip overseas airfares will average $1,250, up from about $1,100 the same time last summer.

That said, Bing’s summer travel forecast yields some good news, too, for destinations that happen to be quite family friendly.

• Round-trip airfares to Orlando this summer will average about $300, while Boston and Denver air tickets will run you about $307 and $316, respectively.

• If you can live with the suffocating summer heat of Las Vegas, a city whose kid-friendliness continues to surprise me, hotel rates will hover in the $100 per night range at what Bing describes as three-star accommodations.

• Likewise, some of the better three-star hotel deals can be found in Miami, with rates hovering at about $158 per night, and in San Diego, which will average $181 per night. Cancun hotels will also be a slightly better value than last summer, with three-star rates averaging $145 per night.

The most useful factoid from the forecast preview? That comes courtesy of what Bing calls its Price Predictor algorithm, which reveals that the least expensive time to travel this summer will be from May 30 to June 5, when round-trip airfares will average $518. The most expensive travel window will be June 27-July 3rd, when airfares will average about $595.
