Gay Ski Week New ZealandIf the balmy days ahead already have you pining for your pea coat, you’re in luck: Qantas invites to you “Fly with Pride” with an extended fare sale to get you down under just in time for their fall and winter (a.k.a. our summer). An LGBT-targetted extension of their recent killer sale, but limited to gay hubs Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, round-trip fares start at $678 before taxes—roughly 60-percent off normal rates—for outbound travel between April 9 and June 8 or July 24 and September 21. Flights must be booked by April 14 and are valid between Qantas’ Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York (JFK) gateways, with add-ons ($50+) for other cities via partner airlines American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Horizon Air. Note: rates are valid on the new Airbus A380 jumbo jet between LA-Melbourne/Sydney; check specific routes here for the ultimate in jet-set travel.

Although Australia’s defacto Pride, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, takes place in February, Brisbane Pride holds it own with a month-long schedule of activities in June including a march/rally and ball the weekend of the 12th. The city also hosts the 11th Annual Brisbane Queer Film Festival April 9-18.

An added bonus, Qantas’ sale extends its reach to New Zealand (round-trip fares start at $798), with dates valid for Queenstown’s Gay Ski Week September 4-12, 2010. Drawing around 800 ski bunnies per year with a packed schedule of parties, dinners, and activties both on and off the slopes of the South Island’s stunning alps, it’s a friendly-fun affair and the southern hemisphere’s largest LGBT ski event. Book an 8-night package (skier or non) by June 1 and save 20% on cost of tickets and get a free cooked buffet breakfast every day—plus the best rooms. An entire wing has been reserved exclusively for guests, per your proclivity: party, thrill-seeker, early riser, lakeview, or champagne VIP service.
