The Luxury When golf great Jack Nicklaus deemed Pebble Beach’s oceanfront fairways along the rocky Monterey Coast “possibly the best in the world,” he meant it. Built in 1919, the legendary course completed a decade-long conditioning project this summer, led by Nicklaus’s former rival, Arnold Palmer – just in time to host its fifth U.S. Open tournament in June. The resort complex isn’t too shabby either, with wood-burning fireplaces, cozy cottages, and over a dozen dining options.

The Value Book the Championship Preview Package through March – starting at $2,475 (for two people), the deal includes a 2-night stay at either The Lodge at Pebble Beach or Inn at Spanish Bay, a round of golf on two courses, plus a $200 resort credit. Pitted against the usual combined cost of green fees plus a room, it represents a savings of $585 (over 20 percent).

The Catch Since Pebble Beach’s namesake course is the major draw, it can only be played once with the deal.
