As if Valentines Day isn’t bad enough, the last thing single travelers need is to shell out extra because the industry standard includes that painful fine print “based on double occupancy.” Lately, the tides have been changing as more companies are waiving single-supplements as part of promotional efforts. Norwegian is among the contenders that have been cutting costs for those who choose to cruise solo by offering studios aboard the soon-to-debut Norwegian Epic.

The studios are a first for NCL and are specifically designed and priced for single occupancy. The staterooms include a full-sized bed, a two-way window to the corridor (you can only look out the window), and private access to the exclusive Studio Lounge. Studios are available this summer starting from $799 for a 7-night Caribbean voyage (traditional interior cabins are priced from $899 per person based on double occupancy).

Now, if only we can get waiters everywhere to stop asking “just one tonight?”
