If you can’t stand to see summer’s rays turn into crisp fall days, consider a quick jet down to the Bahamas before ushering in the holidays. All autumn long, Nassau/Paradise Island is giving away one free companion airfare ticket (round-trip from anywhere within the continental U.S.) to travelers who book at least a three-night stay at one of 17 island hotels – including deluxe digs like Atlantis Paradise Island and the Sandals Royal Bahamian. (Florida residents don’t even have to pay taxes and fees on the freebie fare!) Although the offer is valid from August 15 to December 22, travelers must reserve rooms by September 15.

THE VALUE: Currently, even some of the cheapest fall flights from Miami cost about $200; from New York, tickets are at least $286; and from Los Angeles, fares start around $375.

THE CATCH: Blackout dates during the week of Thanksgiving (November 23–29) apply, and everyone (except for Florida residents) will need to pay taxes and fees of up to $120.

THE DETAILS: Go to www.nassauparadiseisland.com for a full list of participating hotels and booking agents.
