For the millions of Americans who suffer from dust and chemical allergies (or are just plain sensitive to either) traveling and staying in hotels can be a huge headache, as we expose our systems to new environments whose elements we can’t control. To some a fluffy feather comforter is heaven–to others, it means a sneezefest. The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile is paying attention.
The hotel provides complimentary services to rid rooms of an array of allergens so that even the most allergy-prone traveler will be comfortable. For those who are sensitive to chemicals, the bed linens are washed without fabric softeners, the air is fragrance-free, and the rooms are cleaned with all-natural products.
And for those who are allergic to dust or feathers, the hotel will replace the pillows and duvets with down alternatives and provide hypo-allergenic covers to prevent dust from accumulating.
Located on the Magnificent Mile stretch of Michigan Avenue, the Marriott is fresh off a multi-million dollar renovation, which outfitted rooms with flat screen TVs and ergonomic desk chairs, among other improvements.
In an ideal world, accommodating guests with allergies would be standard practice at all hotels. But in the meantime, travelers at the Marriott in Chicago can breath a little easier.
Does anyone know of other hotels that have a similar policy?
