Flourishing in a cozy bubble of prosperity, away from the foot traffic of other Mexican destinations, Los Cabos is a celebrity magnet and a romance mecca, stretching out along the southernmost tip of the California Baja peninsula.  The two-city region (Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo) supports top-of-the-line resorts like Esperanza, Capella Pedregal, Las Ventanas al Paraiso, and One&Only Palmilla, which line the famous Tourist Corridor, catering to a who’s who list of silver-screen stars, spendthrift heirs (or heiresses), and their loyal entourages.

However, the latest luxury tycoon to hit this side of the Mexican Riviera will be a Solmar Resorts property. The Cabo veteran hospitality brand has been around since 1979, when the first Solmar was built, followed by three more in the same classic and sophisticated vein. In February 2011, Solmar Resorts will unveil its fifth addition in 32 years, Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort and Spa.

Boded to join the ranks of Las Ventanas and one-year-old Capella, Grand Solmar will partition three phases of development, the first of which will be completed in February, debuting 119 suites, starting from 737 square feet, with low-season rates from $402 per night. The studio suites, master suites, and two-, three-, and four-bedroom presidential suites will be available at opening. These imperial-sized quarters will boast up to five bathrooms, private pools and Jacuzzis, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances, full ocean views, multiple flat-screen televisions per suite, and wood-carved furnishings. When the project reaches completion, there will be 289 suites in total.

The super-resort will feature extravagant amenities like in-room chef-catered meals, butler service, in-suite massages, 24-hour room service, and exclusive check-in. While other properties may claim to be at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Grand Solmar will, literally, occupy this bluff-like crop of land, contiguous to the granite formations and a startling landscape of nothing but the open Pacific – a flawless view from the Grand Solmar oceanfront Jacuzzi. Visit Solmar Resorts (www.solmar.com) to book a stay at Grand Solmar in advance, or at any of the other elegant Solmar properties, which do offer a less eye-popping price tag – check them out in this Cabo San Lucas: 5 Hotels Under $150/Nt round-up.
