In April, the villa rental agency Wimco – a Sherman’s Travel 2008 Smart Luxury Award winner known for its homes in the Caribbean and Europe – set up shop on Nantucket, the classic island getaway in Massachusetts. The move marks Wimco’s first foray in the continental United States. The initial 30 villas in the collection range from a two-bedroom cottage in Surfside with a big yard ($1,900 a week) to an oceanfront seven-bedroom house with a private beach and tennis court ($55,000 a week). One big draw of booking through Wimco is the company’s concierges, who can arrange anything from private-chef dinners to in-villa spa treatments and tickets to Nantucket’s popular events, such as the Boston Pops concert in August. This summer Wimco is granting guests a restaurant discount card good for 10 percent off at select island eateries, such as Topper’s and Brant Point Grill. Fall visitors will find that villa prices plunge as much as 50 percent from peak season rates. wimco.com
