Disney is the epitome of a successful entertainment conglomerate. They always have some magic up their sleeve — whether it’s creating new rides and attractions at Walt Disney World with ground-breaking technology or scripting a new blockbuster movie. But now, they just added one more project to their to-do list.

Disney Cruise Line is revamping Castaway Cay, their already uber-popular private island in the Bahamas. Along with 20 new roomy private cabanas on the water, Disney is extending Castaway Family Beach by adding over 700 feet of soft, powdery sand. There will also be a 2,400-square-foot floating platform called Pelican Plunge in the crystal-clear lagoon that is within swimming distance from shore. The platform will feature a bucket dump that drenches guests with hundreds of gallons of water, as well as two water slides — one an enclosed corkscrew and the other a 140-foot-long open slide. Included in the island’s face-lift is the addition of a family lunch buffet, beach bar, and a place for guests to rent inner tubes, snorkels, masks, and fins.

Other additions and improvements on the 1,000-acre island include the relocation and expansion of Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure, creation of a new secluded area for teenagers, and an In Da Shade Game Pavilion complete with table tennis, foosball, billiards and basketball.
