What’s New, Buenos Aires?
In Buenos Aires’s hip Palermo district, you can’t throw a steak without hitting a boutique hotel, but we think Legado Mitico is a standout. Since its opening nearly a year ago, the 11-room hotel has proven itself to be more than just a pretty face: The service is both warm and meticulous, from the clued-in concierge to the twice-daily maid service to the lenient check-in policy (crucial for guests arriving on red-eye flights).
Set on a peaceful street dotted with purple jacaranda trees, the hotel is a quiet sanctuary in the midst of the city’s most happening neighborhood; guests happily mingle during the complimentary breakfast or on the leafy, sun-dappled terrace. And as for the pretty face: Each of the spacious and beautiful rooms honors an historic Argentine personality, from El Escritor, a tribute to Jorge Luis Borges (complete with a typewriter atop an antique desk) to the Che-inspired El Idealista and the La Contestataria, dedicated to iconic local comic strip Mafalda. All in all, it makes for a memorable — if not inspiring — stay. From $190/night.
